Our newest concert season in Houston features soloist Tonya Burton; includes collaborations with Opus 1 and Cor Mundi, and presents world premieres from Alice Hong and Nicky Sohn alongside works from John Adams, Valerie Coleman, Aaron Copland, and Arvo Pärt.

Kinetic joins Cor Mundi Chamber Choir to celebrate the 90th birthday of Arvo Pärt, one of the most performed composers of our time. This special jubilee program brings together some of Pärt’s most iconic works for choir and string orchestra, including Fratres, Tabula Rasa, and Berliner Messe. Characterized by extraordinary beauty, spiritual depth, and radiant simplicity, Pärt’s music has captivated listeners around the world for decades.

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Kinetic presents the world premiere of Nicky Sohn’s Cynthia, featuring violist Tonya Burton. Cynthia is written in memory of Burton’s aunt, and is inspired by conversations between Burton, Sohn, and members of Cynthia’s patient support group. Mosaics considers collective grief and the uplifting power of community through a diverse tapestry of musical styles.

Aaron Copland’s Appalachian Spring (1944) captured the magic of life in a distinctly American landscape. Composer Alice Hong does the same, specifically for the city of Houston, through the lens of our native magnolia trees.
