Featured Exhibit

Cecilia Villanueva’s solo show is not only about architecture and light but also about understanding that time does not exist. The artist explains, “That which we call “time” is actually change coming from inside; just a measure of the perpetual change within all.” Her blue paintings weave a story of an impossible moment and the result of this over-concentrated attention in such a small span of time, reveals without doubt the core of the artist, the love for her land, and her naked memories which come as a by-product amid this effort as a sacrifice offered to the beholder.

Cecilia Villanueva was born and raised in Mexico City. She brings both world history and imagination to her work. Her training began when her father, an architect, would give Cecilia blue prints to draw on. He thought she would use the large size paper to draw on the back, but she instead chose to spend hours tracing the intricate tracery of blue lines on the front of the paper.
All of Cecilia´s paintings, whether oil or ink, have hidden surprises in them. Only her daughter knows where all the secret images are hidden.
Cecilia stated that "...artists carry the consciousness of their community. Artists see what is going to happen before it is observed. It´s more than beautifying your home. We are the voices and translators of community culture and history."
