MISSION // TO ENRICH THE MUSICAL VIBRANCY OF HOUSTON'S CULTURAL LANDSCAPE THROUGH LIVE PERFORMANCES, DISTINCT PROGRAMMING, AND INTERACTIVE LEARNING EXPERIENCES.

//

ABOUT // Formed in 2015, KINETIC is a collective of 16 passionate and diverse chamber musicians who thrive on collaboration to create high energy, innovative, and world-class live performances throughout the city of Houston. Led by founder & Artistic Director, Natalie Lin, the ensemble can be seen performing in various traditional & nontraditional spaces around town like at MATCH (Midtown Arts & Theater Center), in art galleries, schools, and hospitals.

//

REPERTOIRE // Now in their third concert season, KINETIC already boasts an impressively diverse repertoire, including works by Benjamin Britten, Ernest Bloch, Grażyna Bacewicz, Igor Stravinsky, and Eugène Ysaÿe. Their unique flexibility to size down to smaller formations, as well as fill out to their full size, allows them to explore the unique sound worlds of strings – from the intimacy of the quartet to the full force of the orchestra. With thoughtfully curated programs that reflect this versatility, KINETIC is also committed to expanding the breadth of the string orchestra genre, and have commissioned and premiered works by American composers Karim Al-Zand, Tommy Dougherty, Daniel Knaggs, and Alexandra T. Bryant.

COMMUNITY // Equally at home on the concert stage and in less traditional performance spaces, KINETIC's eagerness to bring classical music to a wide array of communities has led to a partnership with Houston Methodist Hospital’s Center for Performing Arts Medicine (CPAM) as well as with local public schools in presenting musical outreach events. KINETIC is a two-time recipient of the Sviatoslav Richter Fund for Music Outreach, awarded by Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music, and a selected participant in Houston Arts Alliance's Pre-Incubator Program. The ensemble has been featured on Houston Public Media’s KUHF and Classical 91.7, Houston Chronicle and Arts & Culture Texas Magazine.
